Jharkhand Foundation Day Celebrations (11–14 November 2025)

A.B.M. College, Jamshedpur organised a four-day series of events from 11 November to 14 November 2025 to celebrate Jharkhand Foundation Day. The celebration aimed to highlight the rich cultural heritage, tribal identity, and developmental aspirations of the state.

Day 1 – Painting Competition (11 November 2025)

The celebration commenced with a Painting Competition on the theme “Art and Culture of Jharkhand.” Students portrayed the diverse tribal traditions, folk art, and natural beauty of the state through expressive and vibrant artwork. The event drew enthusiastic participation and showcased the creative talents of the students.

Day 2 – Essay Competition (12 November 2025)

An Essay Competition was organised on the topic “ब्रिटिश राज्य के विरोध में झारखंड की भूमिका” (The Role of Jharkhand against British Rule). Participants highlighted significant historical events, tribal leaders, and freedom movements that shaped Jharkhand’s resistance during colonial rule. The essays reflected both historical understanding and patriotic sentiment.

Day 3 – Speech Competition (13 November 2025)

A Speech Competition was held on the theme “झारखंड के विकास की चुनौतियाँ एवं अवसर” (Challenges and Opportunities in the Development of Jharkhand). Students spoke confidently on issues such as education, employment, industrial growth, tribal welfare, and environmental conservation. Their presentations demonstrated deep awareness of the state’s progress and future possibilities.

Day 4 – Valedictory Ceremony (14 November 2025)

The four-day program concluded with a formal Valedictory Ceremony. Winners of all competitions were honoured with certificates and prizes. Faculty members appreciated the active participation of students and encouraged them to continue contributing to the state’s cultural and intellectual growth.

The events were successfully coordinated with the support of the Cultural Committee, IQAC, and faculty members from various departments. The celebrations strengthened students’ connection with Jharkhand’s identity, culture, and historical significance.

A.B.M. College remains committed to promoting cultural awareness and fostering a sense of pride among students through such meaningful observances.

National Education Day Celebration

A.B.M. College, Jamshedpur observed National Education Day on 11 November 2025 with great enthusiasm to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India’s first Education Minister and a visionary architect of modern education. The celebration aimed to highlight his contributions to nation-building and to inspire students to uphold the values of knowledge, equality, and educational empowerment.

The programme began with a floral tribute to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, followed by an inaugural address by the Principal, Dr. Vijay Kumar. In his speech, he emphasized that education is the foundation of social and economic progress, and encouraged students to cultivate curiosity, critical thinking, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Gyanti Kumari Prasad, Head, Department of Psychology. The programme was graced by the presence of distinguished faculty members including Dr. J. P. Narayan (Head, Department of Commerce), Prof. B. P. Maharatha (Head, Department of English), Dr. Anubha Jaiswal (Head, Department of Hindi), Dr. Sonam Verma (Head, Department of Geography), and several other teaching and non-teaching staff. Their support and student participation made the celebration meaningful and impactful.

Educational Visit to Cheshire Home

The Department of Psychology, A.B.M. College, Jamshedpur organized a one-day educational visit to Cheshire Home, Sundernagar on 23 May 2025.

The primary objective of the visit was to provide students with firsthand exposure to the care, lifestyle, and rehabilitation processes of individuals with mental and physical disabilities.

Students from Semester 1, 3, and 4 enthusiastically participated in the visit. The experience proved to be highly enriching—academically, emotionally, and socially—allowing students to gain insights beyond classroom learning.

Dr. Amna Anjum, Assistant Professor

Both faculty members accompanied the students and provided meaningful direction throughout the visit.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Gyanti Kumari Prasad said: - “Such educational visits help students move beyond theoretical knowledge and understand the realities of society. They play a vital role in developing empathy, understanding, and a sense of social responsibility.”

The visit was an inspiring and informative experience for the students. It helped them develop a deeper understanding of the diverse needs of society and reflect on their roles as responsible individuals and future psychology professionals.

Workshop

Workshop and Poster Competition on World Mental Health Day

The Department of Psychology, A.B.M. College, Jamshedpur organized a one-day Workshop and Poster Competition on the occasion of World Mental Health Day. The event aimed to promote awareness about the significance of mental well-being and to encourage students to adopt a positive and healthy approach towards life.

The programme was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. Vijay Kumar, who delivered an inspiring address. He emphasized that strong mental health is essential for the holistic development of students and encouraged them to adopt confidence, resilience, and positive thinking in their daily lives.

The programme was presided over by Dr. Gyanti Kumari Prasad, Head, Department of Psychology. In her address, she highlighted that mental health is the foundation of overall personality development. She motivated the students to embrace a stress-free lifestyle, cultivate a positive outlook, and develop the habit of self-care for emotional well-being.

The event featured Dr. Zaki Akhtar, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, Karim City College, Jamshedpur, as the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker. He spoke on various dimensions of mental health, including emotional balance, self-awareness, and the importance of social support. He emphasized that rising stress, competition, and technological dependency in modern life make mental health care more crucial than ever.

As part of the programme, a Poster Competition on the theme of Mental Health was also organized. Students showcased exceptional creativity and insight through their artwork. The winners of the competition were:

First Prize – Nisha Pramanik (Semester 4)
Second Prize – Neha Kumari Gupta (Semester 3)
Third Prize – Chandni Nag (Semester 4)

The programme was conducted and the vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Amna Anjum, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. J.P. Narayan, Head, Department of Commerce; Dr. B.P. Maharatha, Head, Department of English; IQAC members; teachers from various departments; and a large number of students.

The objective of the programme was to highlight the importance of mental health and to promote awareness, sensitivity, and a positive outlook among students. The workshop, organized by the Department of Psychology, proved to be highly successful and inspiring, offering the students valuable insights and a message of mental empowerment.

Awareness Programme on World Suicide Prevention Day

The Department of Psychology, A.B.M. College, Jamshedpur successfully organized an awareness programme on the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day. The event aimed to sensitize students about the importance of mental health and to promote awareness regarding suicide as a serious social and psychological concern.

The programme was chaired by the Principal, Dr. Vijay Kumar, who addressed the students and emphasized the need to develop a positive outlook and to seek communication and support during challenging situations. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Gyanti Kumari Prasad, Head, Department of Psychology. In her address, she highlighted the importance of identifying warning signs, showing empathy, and seeking timely help for suicide prevention. Students were encouraged to take a pledge to respect life, promote mental well-being, and support peers who may be in emotional distress.

The programme was conducted and the vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Amna Anjum, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology. The event witnessed the gracious presence of Prof. B. P. Maharatha, Head, Department of English; Dr. Sonam Verma, Head, Department of Geography; Dr. Sushant Kumar, Head, Department of Philosophy; Dr. J. P. Narayan, Head, Department of Commerce; Dr. Anubha Jaiswal, Head, Department of Hindi; Dr. Anuradha Kumari; and Dr. Laxmi Kumari. Their presence, along with the active participation of a large number of students, contributed to the overall success of the programme.
